How do you stop the UV lacquer from scratching on your new timber floor?
One of the main concerns for home and business owners when considering timber floors is the issue of scratching to the surface. While it’s important to understand that nothing will stop the timber surface from scratching. The majority of the unsightly scratching is not the timber at all it is the UV lacquer on the surface which actually scratches.
Our solution for reducing scratching
At Trojan Timbers we have a unique approach for resolving this ‘scratching’ problem – buy one of our new oiled floors. You can’t scratch the UV if it does not exist.
This unique oil finish is the most user-friendly product currently on the market. The finish ensures that no longer will a chair or pet scratch the floor in the way many have come to expect with timber floors.
The care and maintenance of the floor is a one step approach, you simply mop the floor with our easy to use Trojan Wood Soap. This not only cleans the floor but provides a protective non-scratch coating – a ‘Scotch Guard’ for timber if you like – that ensures your floor will perform year in and year out.
We are not aware of any other timber floor on the market that comes with the complete solution to match our new oiled oak floors.
Of course if you’re still concerned about the possibility of scratches on your timber flooring, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
Place a mat at entry doors as sand and grit from shoes could damage your floors surface.
Don’t drag furniture along your timber floor. Lift and move it.
Buy furniture pads, which you can place at the base of your furniture’s’ feet.
If you have a piece of furniture that doesn’t have feet (e.g. a large display cabinet), consider placing some kind of rug/carpeting underneath it – just ensure the rug/carpet doesn’t have an abrasive underlay.
When vacuuming, use the attached soft brushing to reduce friction against the flooring.
